They can be of three types, namely, Nickel-Cadmium, Nickel-Metal Hydride and Lithium Ion. Nickel Cadmium camera batteries, although rechargeable have certain restrictions on usage which makes the other two Nigh and Lion the most coveted digital camera battery types.
